Mmmm...

While stumbling around on Netflix one day I came across a show called Cake Boss, fell in love, and created an addiction -as much as I tried to simply enjoy watching them do the cake baking, I just couldn't keep myself out of the kitchen! So the following picture is the result of the antsy baking monster inside of me:
This, my friends, is a chocolate pound cake with chocolate butter cream icing, and then covered with a butter cream fondant and drizzled with a chocolate ganache. Approx. 200 cal. a bite...(here I am smiling like a mad scientist).
Of course, being the health-freak that I am, I was unwilling to consume such a thing-so I took it to work (carrying that thing all the way downtown was quite a workout) for my fellow coworkers to enjoy.

Ah yes...fun times.

Meatloaf Cupcakes

So it seems that "another blog will soon follow" means a month later...in that month I have been busy (as always) doing something other than blogging. Here's a quick recap via photo of the highlights of this past month:
I enjoyed this beautiful day on a paddle boat.

Saint Patrick's day-Chicago river dyed green.

                                                                         And finally...
       Meatloaf Cupcakes!
I asked Steven to take a pretty picture for me before he ate it...
and this is his idea of a pretty meatloaf cupcake.
He's so cute ^_^

So I decided a long time ago that I was a huge fan of "playing" with my food. It's only after a few hours of playing around with it that you come out with something fun like this! I mean, come on now, who wouldn't enjoy looking at this delightful cupcake of meat as opposed to the ordinary loaf that stares at you waiting to be doused in ketchup so it looks a bit more appetizing?
Annnnnnnywho...I saw this idea at one point in time, somewhere in the virtual world and it looked like a lot of fun, so I tried it! I used a Turkey Loaf recipe, but instead of the bread crumbs I used wheat bran. It was very yummy. After mixing all the ingredients together I rolled it into balls big enough to fill the spots in a cupcake pan (note to self: cupcake pans are already hard enough to clean...it's worse with meat). After they are finished baking I topped them with some homemade garlic mashed potatoes and then decorated them with some chives. Fun and delicious? Absolutely!
